Does it hurt?

The short answer is yes, there can be some discomfort especially if it is your first time. Pain is subjective and everyone tolerates it differently, however I am highly trained and very experienced in different waxing techniques to ensure you have the most comfortable experience possible! After all, my specialty is first time brazilians! Exfoliating the skin a few days in advance and moisturizing the days leading up to your appointment will help you have a smoother experience! Many clients find that taking an OTC pain reliever prior to their service and breathing through the pulls can alleviate any possible discomfort. I promise to keep you distracted and support you through it! You got this!

I’m interested in bikini or brazilian waxing because I struggle with ingrown hairs and irritation with shaving, will waxing help with that?

Absolutely! Almost all of my waxing clients begin seeing me for that very reason! I will tell you though that with waxing (especially bikini waxing) that aftercare is SUPER important! So make sure you are following the instructions I give you and you won’t have any problems!

How long does my hair have to be?

I recommend my clients to have about 2-3 weeks of hair growth since their last shave or trim for best results. The hair should be at least ¼ inch long, or about as long as a grain of rice. Basically, if you can tug on it with your fingers, I can wax it! Longer is ALWAYS better than too short! If the hair is too short it is not guaranteed to remove with the wax leaving you with a bit of stubble behind. It's normal for there to be some shorter hairs intermixed with longer ones when transitioning from shaving to a new waxing routine due to the different hair cycles. This usually resolves in 2-3 consecutive waxes.

How long do the results last?

You will be pretty hair free for the first 1-2 weeks after your wax, after that point the hair will begin to grow back in much finer and softer and will be long enough for your next wax at about the 4-6 week mark. But everyone is different! Also keep in mind that your first wax probably won’t be 100% hair free as the hair growth cycles will not be all synced up for the first 2-3 waxes you receive.

Growth Cycles? What’s that?

Hair has a growth cycle including 3 stages, Anagen, Catagen, and Telogen. The anagen stage (the growing stage) is the beginning stage where the dermal papilla inside the base of your follicle begins to regrow the new hair and it soon will begin poking its little head out from your pore. The catogen phase is the regressing phase where the hair is continuing to increase in length and when you start noticing the most hair regrowth. The telogen phase is the final phase, or the resting phase where your hair has grown about as long as it can before eventually shedding naturally and then the cycle starts all over again.

When waxing, our goal is to remove all the hairs around the Anagen and Catagen phase as this contributes to the best overall reduction of hair growth over time. This is why clients who have been waxing for years have significantly less regrowth than new first time clients who have never waxed before.

Ever notice how your hair sheds in the shower sometimes, or ever find an eyelash on your cheek? The hair all over your body sheds like that too! Just not as noticeably.

After a few waxes, we will get the majority of your hair on the same growth cycle (regrowing and maturing all at the same time) so that you get every hair removed every time, and your wax results will get better with every visit.

How do I take care of my skin after a wax?

Ah I love aftercare questions! This is the most important part of waxing. Unfortunately I only see most of my clients once a month, so its your responsibility to take care of the beautiful hair free skin I send you home with. But don’t worry I make it super easy and provide you with the best products in the industry! Here’s what you need to know.

Immediately following your wax, treat the area like a quarantine zone, NO TOUCHIE!

Avoid any excessive sweating or friction (sex and working out are the main no no's),

bodies of water, sun exposure, tight clothing, etc.

Exfoliating 2-3 times a week is the most important thing you can do for your waxed skin! Exfoliating helps ensure that when that new fine and soft hair grows back that it doesn’t get stuck under your dry dead skin cells and cause bumps and ingrowns. My favorite exfoliant is the Fur KP Body Scrub because it has 14% lactic acid so its a physical scrub and a chemical exfoliant all in one, a more cost effective way is to get a few sets of exfoliating gloves and use them in the shower with a noncomedogenic shower gel (remember to hang the gloves to dry and launder/replace them weekly!

Moisturizing ensures that your skin, follicles, (and new hair regrowth) stays hydrated so that your skin and hair remains in good health for your next wax so that every wax is a flawless one. Besides, nobody likes to be crusty lol. Dehydrated skin and skin in high friction areas (underarms, bikini line, labia, and under skin folds and rolls) is also more prone to skin lifting during waxing services so please moisturize these well! My favorite bikini area moisturizer is the classic Fur Oil!

Some people (like myself) are more prone to ingrowns than others despite regular exfoliating and moisturizing simply because bodies are weird and decide to regrow hair weirdly sometimes. If this is the case for you as well, we have more active targeting ingrown hair treatment serums that are insanely effective in getting rid of those pesky ingrowns and hyperpigmentation they can sometimes cause. If I see ingrowns at your appointment, I will ALWAYS offer to professionally and properly remove them for you (if possible) and reassess your current home aftercare routine so that you experience less in the future.

I always have detailed waxing aftercare instruction cards available for you to take home after your service as reminders so you never forget how to take care of your beautiful hair free skin in the best way possible, as well as top of the line products for you to purchase in studio so that you never have to guess on what to do or what to use for the best results! No more wandering around target and ulta and paying for mediocre products that give less than desirable results. We’ve got you covered here!

I had a bad experience getting waxed somewhere else and I’m nervous to try again. How is Induced Alchemy different?

Raise your hand if you’ve been personally victimized by a waxing chain franchise or a nail salon lady lol. 🙋🏻‍♀️

On a real note, I am SO SORRY you had a less than desirable experience waxing elsewhere. We’ve all been there. I used to wax for a popular waxing chain for several years and believe me I have heard horror stories from my clients about how ill trained technicians serviced them. I have always been passionate about providing the BEST possible quality service to my clients no matter what. Trust that your wax with me will be quick, efficient, and as comfortable as humanly possible, and expect amazing results! Here at Induced Alchemy, we only use the highest quality wax, industry leading products, and best techniques, to ensure that you have a fantastic experience. If there is anything that has got you feeling apprehensive about trying waxing with us, please feel free to reach out to me with any and all questions/comments/concerns, or if you potentially would need any special accommodations, so we can chat!
